Grainger Town
Grey's Monument, 150 Grainger Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear, NE1 5AF
This walk takes a look at the first planned town centre in the country by Richard Grainger in 1830’s and to link it to the refurbishment of his town centre that took place between 1997-2003 that gave Grainger Town its name. The 1990’s regeneration covers a much wider area than the buildings built by Grainger to include all the historic buildings in the city “at risk”.
