Greenside Tunnel Walk Through

Join the Greenside Greenway group for a special self guided walk through the historic 500m long Greenside Tunnel. The tunnel was last used for rail travel over 60 years ago but is in remarkably good condition. Given that this is one of the potential routes for the West Yorkshire tram there may not be many more opportunities to walk this route. Within the tunnel it is easy walking but the descent down to the entrance portal is uneven and there are areas where it can be quite damp so stout boots are recommended. The inside of the tunnel is quite dark so don't forget to bring a torch too!

- Directions:
- Access via the Bridelway at the side of the Fox and Grapes pub on Smalewell Road (what three words ///ritual.worker.sank). Descend along the bridleway until you cross a stone bridge and bend right and under the bridge then forward to the tunnel (what three words ///grew.like.create). Don't worry it will be signposted!

Accessibility details
Due to the uneven and steep descent this is only suitable for those able to walk unaided. This is an outdoor event so dress accordingly, there are areas which are known to be quite wet after recent rainfall. The tunnel is dark so a torch is recommended.
