Greenway
Greenway, Greenway Road, Galmpton, Brixham, Devon, TQ5 0ES
Agatha Christie called Greenway 'the loveliest place in the world' and treasured it as a holiday home for her and her family. The relaxed and atmospheric house is set in the 1950s, when Agatha and her family would spend summers and Christmases here with friends, relaxing, playing games, and reading her latest mystery to their guests. The family were great collectors, and the house is filled with archaeology, Tunbridgeware, silver, botanical china and books.
From walled gardens to riverside woodland, there are hidden gems to discover, views to admire and deckchairs to relax in. The large and romantic woodland drifts down the hillside towards the sparkling Dart River. The walled gardens are home to the restored peach house and vinery, as well as an allotment cared for by local school children. A visit to Greenway isn't complete without seeing the Boathouse, scene of the crime in Dead Man’s Folly.
Why not make a day of it and travel by river with the Greenway Ferry Company, from Dartmouth and Dittisham. If travelling by car, your parking space needs to be booked in advance through the website.
Greenway is open daily from 10.30am-5pm, with last entry to the house at 4.30pm. Parking charges applicable.
