Guided Tour - Borderline Greenway, Alnwick

A tour of a 3km stretch of the Alnwick Borderline Greenway, a repurposed rail track. Includes talks on aspects of the existing line, it’s history and connection to the locality. Also plans to develop the greenway from Alnwick to Cornhill.

The tour will involve walking the existing path, c 6 km, on a there and back route. Along the walk there will be talks which describe the railway history of the line, local environmental features such as the landscape, the fauna, flora and wildlife and also what plans are in place to extend the walking, cycling and riding path. Each interpretive talk will be given by a local expert. In addition to the talks participants will be given leaflets to take away giving information about the three elements of the guided tour, including a naturalists account of the natural life of the path.

Directions:
This is NOT Alnwick Town Seniors football ground. If driving proceed up Taylor Drive , past the High School on the right, as you approach a new housing estate ahead of you, turn left onto an unmade road and space. Ahead of you is the entrance to the Juniors football ground.

Additional information

The tour, taking about 1.5 hours will be appropriate for any walker. The path is a slow incline out on a level finished gravel path. The first section of the path is uneven and may represent a difficulty to wheelchair visitors. (This access issue is being addressed and will render the path wheelchair accessible in the future).
