Join an exclusive guided tour of the Chitra Collection, as we open to the public for Heritage Open Days 2026. The collection curator will be leading free guided tours, exploring how tea became a global drink and shaped the modern world.

The Chitra Collection is an extraordinary private museum dedicated to the art and history of tea. In 2011, Nirmal Sethia, Chairman of the luxury tea company Newby Teas, embarked on a mission to assemble the world’s greatest collection of historic teawares in order to preserve and celebrate tea cultures from across the globe.

Named in honour of his late wife, Chitra, the collection now comprises almost 2,000 objects and is widely regarded as the finest and most comprehensive collection of its kind in the world. Spanning more than a thousand years of history, the collection brings together exceptional pieces from Europe, Asia, and the Americas, offering a unique insight into the global significance of tea and the rich diversity of tea-drinking traditions.

As the collection is not normally open to the public, this is a rare and exclusive opportunity to enjoy a guided tour led by the Chitra Collection’s curator.
