When King’s Lynn’s churchyards became full, the Corporation created this fine Victorian cemetery, which opened in 1856. It was one of the first municipal burial grounds in the country, and much of its original layout and planting survives today.
Now an important haven for wildlife, the cemetery is also a place for reflection and quiet walks. Among its notable features is the striking monument to the Beautiful Star, marking the grave of five Scottish fishermen who drowned at sea.
