A free talk on harvest traditions and foods from Friends of Bailey's Wood.

Ever wondered how people in Blackley celebrated the harvest in times past? What sort of celebrations did people have back when all this was fields? Join us for a unique event - a harvest celebration in the atmospheric setting of our little patch of ancient woodland in North Manchester!

This event is suitable for all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet us at the Grange Park Road entrance to the woods to walk to the location of the talk.

This event is part of the Friends of Bailey's Wood Harvest Day, showcasing the farming history and heritage of Blackley and Bailey's Wood. It's a free event, and part of Heritage Open Days 2025.

Directions:
The Grange Park Road entrance to Bailey's Wood is near the junction with Charlestown Road. It is unsigned, but there will be volunteers at the bench in front of the substation. Boggart Hole Clough is nearby, on the opposite side of Charlestown Road.

Accessibility details

Please note: not all paths in the woods are fully accessible and can be slippy/muddy in some weathers. As far as possible, the walking route will be chosen to suit the walkers in attendance on the day. If you would like more information, please get in touch with the Friends of Bailey's Wood. There are no toilets on site.
