Hebden Bridge Signal Box: Grand Re-Opening
The Signal Box, Hebden Bridge Railway Station, Station Road, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, HX7 6JE
Calder Valley Community Land Trust, a member-led local charity, has secured the lease of the signal box from Network Rail, and has successfully raised £150,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Railway Heritage Trust, with seed funding from Hebden Royd Town Council. The building has been restored and reimagined: the first floor complete with the original signal frame, has become a heritage centre and exhibition space with a real time signalling simulator, and the ground floor has become characterful overnight accommodation. Income from the overnight accommodation will help maintain both the building and the heritage centre, ensuring the signal box has a sustainable future. The signal box website will contain additional information, photographs and links to videos and films about the industrial heritage of the Upper Calder Valley, the role of transport and particularly railways, and the development of signalling and the role of signal boxes.

The heritage centre is on the first floor, stairs only with no lift. The site is uneven, but pushchairs or simple wheelchairs can access the site, and a visitor guide will provide information. Toilets are accessible at the station (5 minutes walk, but road is uneven)
Facilities are limited, and the site and space is not very large.
