Free rides on Heritage buses (or similar ones) that have served Guildford in the last 60 years.

Saturday will see short round trips running from the Town centre (Bus station bay 20) to serve Woodbridge Road, the old Dennis site, Dapdune Wharf, and the Upper High Street attractions on a circular route, every 30 minutes from 1030 to 1600.

On Sunday, bay 20 will see a longer route out to Watts Gallery, returning via the villages of Compton and Shalford, also running every 30 minutes from 1030 to 1630 as a one way circular route.
Alight at Watts Gallery to visit the cafe, or gallery (admission fee). Compton village has interesting old buildings and is worth a walk through. At Shalford, the Cemetary Chapel is open specially for visits between 1400 & 1700, and further down in the village St Mary’s Church is also open with a special History talk starting at 1430. (More details on the Heritage Open Days website).
All public bus stops on each route will be served, please signal clearly in good time to stop the bus.

The buses intended to be used are a 1950’s London Transport RF type, some of which operated in Guildford from the 50’s to the early 80’s.
There will also be a Safeguard bus from the 70/80’s era, and hopefully an Aldershot and District or Alder Valley bus from the same decades.
Please note that as these vehicles are heritage ones, they are not easily accessible and wheelchairs cannot be carried. Folded buggies are allowed, with great care please!
