Hilbre Island

This is a Friends of Hilbre Open Day. Discover Hilbre Island's Telegraph Station, Lifeboat Station and Buoymaster’s Store. Volunteers serve refreshments and telescopes are set up to view the seal colony. Volunteers give talks in the historic buildings that are open to the public.
It takes approximately 45 mins to walk to Hilbre depending on age and fitness. (On 20 Sept. 2026 only - it is safe to cross from 9:30am BST and visitors must leave the island before 3:30pm BST)
This is not a guided walk. People attending the event are responsible for their own safety walking out to the event. Walkers must set off on their own from Dee Lane, West Kirby, CH48 0QG
Please follow the safe route to the Island (via Little Eye and Middle Eye) and observe safe crossing times.
