Historical fiction workshop

Aylesbury Library, Walton Street, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP20 1UU

  • 17 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Join local author A.K. Nairn for a session on the unique joys and pitfalls of writing historical fiction.

Whether you're a seasoned pro or just love reading the genre - come along for an interactive session about the grey area between history and story.

Historical fiction is one of the most popular genres of literature, TV and film these days. But it's also a subject that provokes very strong opinions! How closely should the story stick to the facts? When does a little creative licence help - and when does it hinder? Is it even possible to talk about the past without contaminating it with modern ideas and sensibilities?

This is an invitation for anybody who loves this genre to hear an author's perspective on getting through the minefield intact - and for you to share your own experiences of being transported to another age - or being made to explode with rage!
