Visit Holmfield Park Bowling Club. Open for Heritage OPen Days for the first time this year.

Visit Holmfield Park Bowling Club. As well as being one of Wakefield’s historic bowls clubs, we are also home to a historical hidden gem – a set of Victorian whale bone gateposts. We believe they were originally located at Kettlethorpe Hall, before being relocated to Sandal Castle, where they stood on Manygates Lane for many years. They were then moved to Holmfield Park, although we don’t know when or why! Whatever the reason, they now stand at the entrance to our club. Call in during the day to have a look, chat to the volunteers and maybe even have a go at bowling.

We are located only a short walk from Thornes Wakefield Bowls club, who will also be opening their beautiful historic 1937 bowls pavilion on the same day, so why not visit both?
