How We Shape The World: poetry activities with the Hampshire Poet
Rotunda at Winchester School Of Art, University of Southampton,, Park Avenue, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 8DL
Damian Kelly-Basher invites you to build a poem in the inspirational setting of Winchester School of Art's spectacular Rotunda.
Drawing on the Heritage Open Days theme of 'architecture', Damian asks us to imagine "how we shape the world". Using this phrase as a starting point he will guide you through writing exercises to design and construct a poem of your own. The session will conclude with a low-pressure sharing session where participants can read their poem to the group if they wish.
Damian Kelly-Basher is a writer/performer and facilitator who has performed around the UK, including at the Royal Albert Hall and the WOMAD Festival. He has carried out creative commissions for both councils and arts organisations and has also run numerous poetry events and workshops. His background is in public health with the NHS, and he has also worked on projects in both Central America and Eastern Europe. He holds the position of Hampshire Poet 2024-26, which is jointly supported by Winchester Poetry Festival and Hampshire Cultural Trust.
'How We Shape The World' is a 90 minute session, suitable for all ages and abilities. All resources provided.
Tickets are FREE, but seats are limited.
Please reserve a free ticket if you would like to attend, and return it if you are no longer able to join us.
