Explore the beautiful 19th Century architecture, inspired by the Roman Corinthian style, and enjoy the various photos, books and archive items on display, detailing the building's history.

The current HSBC Bank on Lord Street is housed within the former Preston Bank building, constructed in 1888 in the Roman Corinthian style. During the 19th Century, classical architecture dominated the fashion, and banks in particular competed with each other for splendour and magnificence. The HSBC Bank is one of the finest examples of the Corinthian facade in the area, and has many fascinating features, all carved into sandstone. Join us to look around the main banking hall, with its grand interior just as impressive as the exterior. Learn more about the history of the building and its use over the years through the many photographs, books and archive items available on display, and feel free to ask our team any questions you may have.
