Two trails for archaeological detectives of all ages. What happened to Hyde Abbey after it was completely destroyed in 1538? Discover the evidence of the remains of the medieval abbey that is all round us in Hyde.
The third trail focuses on the beautiful stained glass windows in St Bartholomew’s.
Just turn up at St Bartholomew’s in Hyde, grab a sheet and follow the trails around Hyde.
Please note that this is a self-guided event, and people are responsible for their own safety when undertaking this trail.

- There are a number of ways to find us: *1.) Hop on a King Alfred Vintage Bus (participating in the Heritage Open Day). There are regular free bus trips from Winchester city centre to Hyde (approx 10 minutes) and back. *2.) Book onto on our guided trail from Winchester city centre to Hyde: King Alfred’s Last Journey - a guided, child friendly trail between the 3 burial sites of King Alfred (aimed at children but everyone will enjoy discovering interesting facts).
