Ickworth Estate: Monument Cycle Tour
Ickworth Estate, Horringer, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, IP29 5QE
Led by one of the project team, this cycling tour takes you through the woodlands at Ickworth to the Monument.
At 95 feet (29 meters) tall, this limestone gift to the Earl Bishop is the highest point on the estate and the second highest in Suffolk. Lord Bristol's Monument has a heart felt inscription at the base in memory of the Earl Bishop, and was erected in 1817.
The project that inspired this event aims to research, protect, and restore areas of the monument that may become safe over time.
