Industrial Alston Walk
The Railway Station, Alston, Cumbria, CA9 3JB
Alston Moor is known mainly for being one of the chief lead-producing areas in the country since Roman times, but there were other industries, iron mining, zinc mining, stone quarries, lime burning, the woollen factory that became a war-time munitions factory, and the Nent Force Level, the underground canal, and there is of course the story of the railway line which served them all.
Meet at the South Tynedale Railway Station car park.
