Irlam Heritage Signal Box Open
Station Office, Station Road, Irlam, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M44 5ZR
Hamilton Davies Trust in partnership with Salford Council, TFGM, Railway Heritage Trust, Friends of Irlam Station, Northern, Network Rail and others developed the run down station buildings at Irlam Station, Salford in 2015. The site includes a heritage hub with photos of local industry, railway memorabilia, a static Peckett locomotive and rolling stock plus an onsite cafe/bistro/bar.
On the day our team will happily talk you through a brief 20 minute history of the signal box and it's role in keeping railways safe, plus you can pull the levers or maybe you just want to take photos or watch as a modern commuter or Trans Pennine Express whizzes through the station.
