Don’t be fooled by appearances. The exterior of St Faith’s Church in Lee-on-the-Solent looks like a typical 1930s brick building but prepare to be amazed at the Art Deco inspired concrete arches on the inside! Designed by leading architects Seely & Paget who were at the vanguard of Art Deco design.

Learn about Sir John Robinson, the first superintendent of art at the Victoria & Albert Museum, who financed this seaside resort in 1883 with his plans to build a grand church in the centre. Discover the reasons why it took another 50 years to build a church that befitted the grandeur of this Victorian New Town.
These self-guided tours are based on the very successful tours provided for GHOD in 2023 and 2024.
Volunteers will be available to answer any questions you might have and to also serve refreshments.
Please note that St Faith’s is a working church and some of these time slots advertised may become unavailable for self-guided tours due to circumstances outside our control, for example, for a funeral.
St Faith’s Church is located in Victoria Square just around the corner from the Hovercraft Museum in Lee-on-the-Solent.
