Join EPIKS for a circular guided walk to Edgerton, Marsh & Greenhead Park
Huddersfield Railway Station, St. Georges Square, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD1 1JB
The walk will be led by EPIKS Environmental Ranger, Gilly, who has a specialist knowledge of urban wild landscapes and the natural history of this area.
Our walk will start at Huddersfield Train Station and follow a circular route up to Edgerton Cemetery, across the district boundary into Marsh and then down through Greenhead Park. This walk is just under 3 miles and takes in a variety of terrain; town centre streets, side roads and footpaths. This walk is suitable for wheelchair users due to there being no steps on the route, however it does take in some moderately hilly side streets. The pace will be very steady, and stops will be frequent. It is suitable for those who like a slow pace and frequent opportunities to talk.
We will explore Edgerton Cemetery, taking time to look at wildlife, buildings and the unique landscape the cemetery provides.
You are invited to join the conversation and add your stories as we walk. Share your relationship with Huddersfield's wild spaces and what they mean to you. Discover new ways of exploring the town and build a greater knowledge of how to interpret the landscape.
We will return through Greenhead Park where you may wish to stop to enjoy lunch at the cafe, or return with your guide to Huddersfield train or bus station.
