King Alfred Autumn Bus Running Day

Friends of King Alfred Buses is a registered not-for-profit charity. We are delighted to be a part of the Heritage Open Day event in 2026.
From our fleet of many historic restored buses, there will be regular departures all day from St Catherine's Park & Ride site, where activities will be centred, with additional departures from Winchester Broadway, under the watchful eye of King Alfred himself.
Regular free rides provided by the well-known and celebrated King Alfred Buses of yesteryear will operate:
*over Hazeley Down to Owslebury, Twyford and Colden Common.
*over Fairdown to Morn Hill for the Science Centre.
*over Tichborne Down to Alresford with its pretty streets and the Watercress Line station.
*over Cheesefoot Head to Cheriton, passing the Flower Pots Inn,

We look forward to welcoming members of the public of all generations, to celebrate with The Heritage Open Day.

Sunday 13 September:

A bus timings programme will be available to purchase at a cost of £6.

St Catherine's Park and Ride, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 9BN

Directions:

St Catherine's Park & Ride site, where activities will be centred with additional departures from Winchester Broadway, under the watchful eye of King Alfred himself. Timings: all day between 1000 and 16.30. A programme is available in advance to assist the choice of the vintage bus rides that you may wish to enjoy.
