Lancashire Latter-day Saint History Exhibition and Performance in Chorley
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Temple Way, Chorley, Lancashire, PR6 7EQ
Step inside and discover the remarkable story of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England. Through a special historical exhibition, visitors will explore nearly 200 years of local and national history, beginning with the arrival of the first missionaries in Liverpool in 1837 and continuing through the experiences of ordinary men, women, and families who helped build vibrant faith communities across the British Isles.
Photographs, historical documents, personal stories, and artefacts will illustrate the growth of the Church, highlighting themes of faith, migration, service, family life, and community contribution. The exhibition will also explore the experiences of Latter-day Saints during periods of national change, including the Victorian era and the World Wars. Performers and vignettes will help bring the experience to life and FamilySearch stands and consultants are on hand to help you discover your ancestors.
In both evenings, visitors can enjoy a series of live performances featuring music, dramatic readings, and historical presentations that bring the past to life. These performances will share the stories of converts, missionaries, pioneers, and local members whose experiences helped shape the history of the Church in England. There are activities for children.
During the event, friendly guides are available to answer questions, provide historical context, and discuss Lancashire's Latter-day Saint contributions to the faith and local community.
