Leeds Central Library - Heritage Tour
Leeds City Council, Central Library, Calverley Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 3AB
Opened in 1884, our Victorian building is a treasure trove of tiled walls and floors, beautifully stone-carved heraldic beasts, and entrances. Our tour takes in four floors of elaborate public spaces, including back rooms, corridors, and galleries not open to the public. Along with a history of the building and its occupants, we will tell you the stories of its everyday life, including celebrity book borrowers and one escaped snake.
Please note - the tour on Tuesday 15th September is an accessible tour, with trips between floors using the lift and a route allowing for wheelchair use. The pace will be slower with chances to rest en route.
