Specially commissioned for the national Railway 200 celebrations, we are delighted to have secured an extra opportunity for the public to see Left at the Junction, a fascinating look at lost scenes of railways taken over the past five decades.

As featured on BBC Television, acclaimed railway photographer, David Pearce presents 100 fascinating images of the railways in the East taken over fifty years. “Left at the Junction” offers various glimpses of local journeys on the Bittern Line from Norwich via North Walsham to Cromer and Sheringham and the Wherry Lines three routes from Norwich via the Broads National Park to Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

As part of national celebrations marking 200 years since the first passenger railway, the Bittern Line & Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnerships commissioned acclaimed railway photographer, David Pearce to produce a new exhibition of 100 railway photographs featuring locations and rolling stock taken over the last five decades.

Describing what people can view within the exhibition, photographer David said, “Although Norwich Thorpe is, to all intents and purposes, a terminal station with buffers at the end of each platform, it may also be regarded as a ‘through station’. Journeys do not necessarily terminate here but often continue to other destinations in Norfolk and Suffolk, sometimes even on the same train. “The focus of the exhibition is very much on the trains themselves, mostly in everyday scenes, but sometimes seldom seen. For their time the passenger trains featured might have been considered modern, but now are looked upon, perhaps, with nostalgia, regret even at their passing, or possibly relief that those ‘old rattle-traps’ have given way"
