Letters Home: The Everyday Correspondence of Red Cross Medical Social Worker Margaret (Margie) Fahey McGrath
The American Library, The Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library, The Forum, Millennium Plain, Norwich, Norfolk, NR2 1AW
In 2025 the American Library was gifted with the original letters and photographs of Margaret (Margie) Fahey McGrath, who served as a Red Cross Medical Social Worker out of 231st United States Army Air Forces Station Hospital in Wymondham Norfolk. First made available as part of last year's Heritage Open Day's commemorative exhibition Silver Wings: The United States Army Air Forces in World War II Norfolk, this year's event will focus more deeply upon these documents and the role of women in World War II. In addition to displaying the correspondence, Letters Home will present never-before displayed Oral History interviews, as well as tailored talks and original creative writings inspired by this incredible woman's story.
