Levant Mine

The Levant Mine and Beam Engine tour is a 75-minute tour that goes deep into the history of this once champion Cornish mine. The stories take you through how tin and copper was mined from underneath the sea for over 100 years. See how technology transformed this industry with a look at the 1840s steam engine and follow in the miner’s footsteps as you go down underground into the man engine tunnel.

Bookings for our special Heritage Open Days tour, ‘Echoes of Industry,’ will need to be made separately.

Directions:

If you’re coming to Levant by car, we ask that you please park at Geevor mine. Please allow enough time to walk from Geevor Mine to Levant prior to the start of your tour. When you’ve parked follow the signs to walk the coast path to Levant. The 15- to 20-minute walk is across uneven terrain, make sure to wear appropriate footwear. Accessible parking is available at Levant through prior arrangement. As you reach Levant, please follow the path down the hill to the main site, where you'll see several buildings by the cliff. A team member will be there to welcome you. Please have your ticket ready to show, either on your phone or a printed copy. Please arrive at Levant within 10 minutes of your timeslot. If you are more than 10 minutes late then entry will be at the discretion of the property team.

There is an accessible toilet facility on site, with baby changing facilities. Assistance dogs only are welcome in all areas during the guided tour. There is level access to the Winder House and Skip Shaft. The regular tour includes access to the Man Engine Tunnel where there is a curved staircase underground, with no hand-rail, and uneven floor surface. There are some steps, steep slopes and uneven surfaces.
