Lodge Farm - 7000 years of History
Location details will be shown on the tickets, Wimborne Minster, Dorset, BH21
In 1977 Stephen Burden leased a derelict farmhouse from the late Ralph Bankes. As he began restoration work, he discovered that it was a late C14th semi defensive First Floor Hall House that was formerly a hunting lodge, and the only remaining building of the huge Medieval Royal Manor of Kingston Lacy. The grounds are an important archaeological site dating back to the Stone Age and are being restored as a natural garden that supports wildlife. The tour of the grounds and exterior of the house will be led by Stephen who will tell the story of 7,000 years of human habitation, the discoveries, history and story of its renovation. This is an outside only event.
