Longhoughton Parish Heritage Exhibition

Local volunteers have created an exhibition looking at the history of the building, churchyard, and the people of Longhoughton and Boulmer who have used it over the centuries. We have so far recorded 170 gravestones around the church and built up a database of old records to help our research. We are hoping to tie this to records of the gravestones, to make a resource of how they appear now, before more inscriptions are lost.

Please note the exhibition may be paused for church services as required by the community. Colouring sheets will be available for children to design their own stained glass window.

Members of the group will be available to talk about the stories and local family history on Saturday 13th, and visitors can join us in recording the last section of the churchyard. This event will be taking place alongside the Longhoughton Community Fete (11am - 4pm), where extra parking, refreshments and fun for all ages can be found.

Directions:

Some parking spaces are available opposite the church. On Saturday 13th we would please ask these are left for anyone with mobility issues, with additional parking on the day available from 11am at Longhoughton Community and Sports Centre (Park Rd, Longhoughton, Alnwick, NE66 3JH) as part of the Longhoughton Community Fete, a short walk away (0.4 miles).

Accessibility details

Some steps and uneven surfaces inside the church but the main areas are accessible, and some of the graves are accessible via paths. The path from the gate to the church has a slight incline. If you require additional assistance ahead of visiting please email [email protected]

Additional information

Two cafes, Company B and The Running Fox, and a Co-op store are available nearby. A limited number of parking spaces are available opposite the church.
