Exeter Cathedral Library and Archives, Palace Gate, Exeter, Devon, EX1 1HY
Ever wondered what stories are hidden within letters from over 300 years ago? From a 1688 grumble about having to pay a prince, to a 1763 account of a shipwreck off the Cornish coast, our archive holds letters revealing the adventures and dilemmas of real people connected to the Cathedral. We will have a selection of letters on display for you to delve into and discover more about the stories of everyday life throughout the centuries.
In this drop-in session you can have a go at reading hand writing from hundreds of years ago and deciphering genuine letters from our collection.
