Luke Jerram's Helios at National Trust - Clandon Park
Clandon Park House, Clandon Park, West Clandon, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7RQ
The sun has inspired people throughout history as a symbol of life, light and renewal. Combining light, sound and design to highlight the suns intricate details, Helios succeeds Luke's previous large-scale installations, Museum of the Moon and Gaia. Each centimetre of Helios represents 2000 kilometres of the sun’s surface. It features detailed sunspots and the origins of real solar flares, while the immersive soundtrack includes NASA recordings to take you even closer to the sun.
Over Heritage Open Days there will be a unique opportunity to experience the awe-inspiring Helios at Clandon for free. The seven-metre spherical artwork will be displayed in the Saloon.
BOOKING ESSENTIAL - Due to the nature of the space (Clandon is still a building site) tickets are very limited and must be pre-booked.
Only ticket holders will be admitted.
Helios has been co-commissioned by National Trust, Cork Midsummer Festival, Liverpool Cathedral, Old Royal Naval College and University College London.

Clandon is still a building site, so this experience is not suitable for children under 16 years of age. The lawn leading to the house is uneven and access to the Saloon isn’t step free.
There is a small car park and parking is free. Clandon is still a building site, so PPE (hard hat, high-vis jacket, gloves and glasses) will be provided and must be worn at all times whilst inside the house and site. There are no exceptions to this.
