Luton Hoo Walled Garden
Luton Hoo Estate Walled Garden, Luton Hoo Estate, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU1 4LF
Today the site comprises a five-acre garden surrounded by the original 18th century octagonal wall, and a range of glass houses, including a timber framed Mackenzie Moncur conservatory dated circa 1911, a vinery and a further glasshouse on the diaphragm wall. There is also a selection of rare service buildings surrounding the garden including the Head Gardener’s office, a potting shed, a boiler house, stables, and propagation houses. The garden continues to be revived, repaired, and re-imagined for the enjoyment of all.
This year for Heritage Open Day we are delighted to announce that we will also be joined once again by the Bedfordshire archives who will be holding a fascinating display in our Conservatory within the walls of the Walled Garden.
In 2025 we are partnering both the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) and Historic Houses. The Walled Garden has become a modern garden in its own right, with so many more exciting things to come.

The garden and surrounding service buildings are old and so have many uneven surfaces and awkward entryways. We have made great effort to allow access wherever available. When wheeled access is not possible we will provide commentary of that area wherever possible.
There will be additional displays available on the day. Those wishing to eat at the Woodyard Brasserie are advised to pre book. Tel: 01582879863 - an alternative exterior menu will be available also.
