Manningham Walk

This free in-person circular guided walk, with a guide in costume as 'Samuel Lister', will include fascinating buildings and people from the past and present, plus some future plans. Whether you are a current or former resident of the area or an interested Bradfordian, a visitor or a student, you are very welcome to join in. No need to book, just turn up.

Directions:

Directions by public transport: 621 bus from Bradford City Centre (half hourly on Sundays, heading in the Haworth Road direction) takes around 15 mins. Ask for Manningham Mills and alight at the huge 5/6 storey building. Nearest train station is Frizinghall from where it requires a lengthy uphill walk of a mile to the walk start (no direct bus service). BD9 5AB Free car parking immediately adjacent to Manningham Mills in Patent Street off of Lilycroft Road/Oak Lane (but not in the adjacent private off-street car park). Meet on the pavement outside the large main doors of Manningham Mills, opposite the Police Station, on Lilycroft Road.

Accessibility details

The route is on public pavements with some public road crossings. The first third of the walk is slightly downhill, the middle third is about level and the final third is slightly uphill. The start is from just outside the Manningham Mills main entrance on the corner with adjacent Patent St. No toilets or café - sorry. There are public toilets just over halfway through the walk inside the Manningham public library which the walk goes past (that library is normally open 1200-1600 Sundays but is not dependably open).
