Manor Farm Park Heritage Trail (part of Bournville Heritage Open Day 2025)
389 Bristol Road South, Northfield, Birmingham, West Midlands, B31 2AB
A self-guided 2 km Walking Trail visits ten sites of historic interest in and around Manor Farm Park; each site has a QR code which, when scanned on a smartphone, allows visitors to access information about the site on a website. A printed guide and map will be available for self-guided tours but visitors can come on one of the two guided tours which will take place at 11am and 2pm (booking not necessary).
The park was formerly part of an ancient deer park, then agricultural land and in the early 19th Century became a country estate attached to the Manor House. When George and Elizabeth Cadbury moved into the adjacent Manor House in 1895 they built a farm which included a large wooden barn to host parties for families from the City and Black County, sometimes with 700 people attending. The sites on the trail show visitors how the land was changed to meet the different requirements of its owners before being finally gifted to the City Council for use as a public park forever.
See the online links https://www.friendsofmanorfarmpark.org.uk/fomfp/index.php/heritage for more details about the self-guided Manor Farm Park Heritage Trail. There will be guided tours taking place at 11am and 2pm (no need to book).
