William was Bishop of Winchester, Lord Chancellor and served under several Kings and Queens. Including King Richard III who was mortally wounded in the battle of Bosworth, and hastily buried, his remains were discovered under a Car Park being resurfaced in Leicester.
William arbitrated at the Wars of the Roses on behalf of his King. He travelled the country settling skirmishes when disputes over land broke out.
Our Scheduled Monument has undergone a partial refurbishment which took over Sixteen weeks to complete.
Built almost entirely of hand made bricks, the School is unique to the East Lincolnshire area. Modelled on Tattershall Castle in Coningsby Lincolnshire, made to look like a Castle from the front, and a Church behind the turrets.
The building now houses a Lending Library, Tearoom and Walled Garden on the ground floor and a Museum of local interest on the First floor.
A particularly rare object in the Museum is the original town charter, dated 1457.
