  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Drop in to this large historic church to discover Blofield's connections with members of the famous Paston family. Enlarged in the 14th century from a previous, smaller building Blofield church has seen worship and welcomed visitors since the 1420s.

Meet Edward Paston. Dr Rob Knee steps into the clothes and persona of Blofield's Edward Paston (1550 -1630) to greet you. Hear more about his life and his abilities both linguistic and musical. He was lord of the manor of Blofield, owning a large swathe of land here, and was buried in Blofield Church, where a fine memorial stands to him, his wife and their 9 children.
The Paston family wrote over 1,000 domestic letters in the 15th century, which have been saved and give us important insights into life in Norfolk during the entire 15th century.

Around the church, you can follow visual displays telling of the Pastons in Norfolk, hear music by William Byrd and Thomas Tallis, Edward's protégés, and follow a trail discovering carvings and memorials telling us of the Paston family.
Discover many healing plants of medieval times. A medieval wise woman will explain how plants and herbs were used.
Afternoon cream teas will be available.
