Meet the Anglo-Saxons

St Mary's Church, Church Lane, Winfarthing, Norfolk, IP22 2EA

  • 20 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Visit a mini Anglo-Saxon camp with experienced living historians to discover what life was like for ordinary people around the time the Winfarthing Woman was buried with her fine golden jewellery.

The history of Winfarthing is currently being rewritten, after the discovery of Anglo-Saxon which had been entirely forgotten. One grave was of a wealthy woman who was laid to rest with fine jewellery, while others were of ordinary people. This year we will be finding out more about the everyday lives of Anglo-Saxons with the help of living historians who will set up a small camp. Come and meet and talk to them and watch them at work, and perhaps even try out some Anglo-Saxon activities for yourself.

There will also be a chance to see our display about the Winfarthing Treasure and tea, coffee, and cakes available.
