St Michael’s Church, Mickleham
St Michael’s Church, Old London Road, Mickleham, Surrey, RH5 6DU
Mickleham and Westhumble Local History Group will be hosting a display relevant to this year’s theme of “Finding My Past” and what better place to be than our beautiful local church. With origins dating from Saxon times, rich in Norman architecture and significant Victorian restorations, St Michael’s Church in Mickleham looks forward to welcoming you to explore the wealth of local history held in the church, from plaques and memorials inside the church to a graveyard rich in interesting gravestones including two Commonwealth graves. These artefacts open a fascinating window on the lives of those associated with the area and the many and varied stories that can be uncovered, from the 17th century “yeoman of his majesties confectionary office” to the early 20th century former prime minister of Canada!
