Author Talks for Heritage Open Days at Fabrication Crafts, Feasegate, York:

“MOSAIC: The Pavement That Walked” (and other stories)

Thursday, 17th September 2026: 13:00-16:00

Join author Clive Ashman for an informal, illustrated chat about his three historical novels set in northern Roman Britain.

Their factual and fictional links with the Roman city of York: ‘Eboracum’.

Hear about:

the lost mosaic that was stolen from the site of a villa in East Yorkshire, in 1948; and
the forgotten Roman admiral who declared his province of Britannia’s independence from the rest of the Roman Empire; and
the York lawyer called Justinus who gets to fight an impossible case for his client, the lady Lydia Firma, in a distant courthouse up on the frontier.


Personally-signed copies will be available on the day. Outside of the event Clive's books are available from our Feasegate shop next door to the event space

The Fabrication shop on Feasegate is an artist run gift shop that hosts events and workshops throughout the year. The drop in talk will be in the events space to the left of the shop Opposite Cafe Massarella and the Anime Gallery. The talk is a free drop-in activity
