Murgatroyd's Brine Pumps

Murgatroyd's shaft led to the first discovery of the rock salt beds under Middlewich and gave an impetus to the early chemical industry in the town. Visitors will be given a full introduction to the site and its importance in providing seed chemicals for the wider industry. It is intended that one of the pumps will be operating and that we will be manufacturing salt on the open days. For the up to date status, see our web site https://www.middlewich-heritage.org.uk/
