A Special Filmed Performance plus Q&A of the acclaimed play, Myrninerest: The Outside/Inside Life of Madge Gill, written by James Kenworth and directed by Dario Knight

Madge Gill (1882-1961) was one of the foremost British Outsider artists. She felt an instinctive compulsion to create, resulting in an outpouring that flowed effortlessly and spontaneously from an
altered state of consciousness. Working under the control of Myrninerest, her spirit guide, Madge Gill’s art remains an enigma.

Myrninterest: The Outside/Inside Life of Madge Gill is the sixth instalment in The Newham Plays, a critically acclaimed series of site-specific, localist-driven plays shows rooted in the history, culture, and people of Newham, East London.

The play was successfully performed in August 2024 by professional actors and local young talent at Art in the Docks, an artist-led social enterprise in East London. The production was directed by Queens Park Arts Centre's Dario Knight, Creative Producer of Unbound Theatre. James Kenworth lived in Newham for a long time, which shaped a lot of his early work. He is now settled in Aylesbury and continuing his creative practice here.
