Join us at Coleridge Cottage on 17th and 21st September for free entry to the birthplace of English Romanticism. Discover the poet’s legacy and enjoy a guided walking tour through the historic village of Nether Stowey, following in his footsteps.

Step into Coleridge Cottage and explore the charming house and garden where Samuel Taylor Coleridge lived during three extraordinary years of poetic creativity. Wander through the historic parlour that once welcomed literary giants like William Wordsworth and Charles Lamb, and sit beside the fireside where Coleridge penned some of his most celebrated works. Enjoy hands-on activities including quill writing, Georgian dress-up, and top off your visit with a cream tea or Poet’s Lunch in our delightful Tearoom!

You can also head out on a guided walk around the historic village of Nether Stowey. Join our dedicated guides who will lead you on a tour of the village, following in the footsteps of Coleridge. Learn about what life in Nether Stowey would've been like in the 19th Century and explore the local woodland that was an endless source of poetic inspiration for Coleridge. Directions:
By road From east and south: Leave the M5 at exit 23 and follow signs for Minehead (A39). Follow A39 to Nether Stowey, turn into village at road works opposite church. Follow road through village, the cottage is opposite the Ancient Mariner. From west: Follow signs to Bridgwater (A39). Turn right into Nether Stowey at road works. The cottage is 100 yards on the right, opposite the Ancient Mariner. Parking: Available at the Ancient Mariner Pub (opposite Coleridge Cottage). This car park is not operated by the National Trust, so parking charges will apply to all visitors, including members. Sat nav postcode: TA5 1NQ
