NCI Lee - Saving Lives at Lee

Coastwatch Lookout Station, Beach Road Car Park, Marine Parade East, Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, PO13 9LA

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Wherever there is a National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) station, a watchkeeper will be looking out for danger and ensuring safety on the water and along the coastline. Drop in to hear about NCI's vital voluntary work along our waters and shores.

The National Coastwatch is an integral part of the National Search and Rescue Organisation (SAR) and is answerable directly to HM Coast Guard. High technology and sophisticated systems such as radar and telecommunications have vastly improved safety at sea, but there is no substitute for a watchful pair of eyes.

This short talk by the Watch Keeper will inform you of the work at the Lee NCI Station, and include a visit to the bridge to view the equipment they use to aid in keeping sharp eyes along the coast.

Children of all ages are welcome, but must be under adult supervision at all times.

Please note: in the event of an SAR incident, visitors will be required to vacate the premises immediately, but can return at another time during HODs to complete their visit.
