A snapshot of history on a short tour through what remains of the new Sedgewick gunpowder works. Discover the process of making gunpowder throughout its different stages as you move through the site. Listen to the stories of its workers, beginning at the old suspension bridge they used to cross over the river on their way to work. See fully intact buildings such as the gatehouse and their interesting architecture. Marvel at the remains of blast walls and walk between the river and leat which provided water to the whole site.

Directions:
The postcode should lead to Kendal Caravan and Camping site and there will be signs before you reach it for parking. Sometimes the postcode doesn't work, if so use Sizergh Castle, LA8 8DZ. Take a right before entering the main gate at Sizergh down nannypie lane and underneath the A591. Go past the turn for Low Sizergh Barn and follow the lane to its end. Take a left at the T-junction. From here there will be signs for parking. Follow the road approximately 500 metres. Parking will be on the left after the house by some large barns.
