Until the start of the last century this cottage was anonymous in all but name. It represented a type of building and way of life that had changed very little for generations, and few in rural Surrey would have paid it any attention at all. Today the cottage provides a rare glimpse into a bygone era.
Visits are by pre-booked guided tours only. Guided tours are limited to 6 people per tour due to the size of the cottage and for our volunteers to provide the best experience for our visitors. Please note there is no toilet onsite. There are low narrow doorways, uneven floors and steps throughout, and a narrow stair to the first floor.
