Offa's Dyke and the Pontycysyllte Aqueduct

A circular walk, incorporating part of the Offa’s Dyke Path, including a visit to the visitor centre at Trevor Basin, an elevated section along the
Pontcysyllte Aqueduct ( a UNESCO World Heritage site) , and a 170m section through a tunnel on a canal towpath (torch advised).
See built structures ranging from Offa's Dyke, through Chirk castle (just glimpsed) to Thomas Telford's turnpike road (now the A5) and his tunnels and aqueducts on the Llangollen canal.
Moderate 10 miles. Estimated return to Wellington 16:45. Led by Naomi Wrighton
Catch the 10:06 Train to Chirk, Wellington Train Station. It is also possible to join at Chirk railway station at 10:45

We will be walking over the aqueduct , but it is possible to avoid this. We will also go through a tunnel with no lighting and restricted headroom, torch advised. This is not optional. There is also another , lower, aqueduct and a shorter tunnel, these are optional.
