Blockleys Brickworks established 1894 has a rich history on utilising local clay resources for manufacturing high-quality bricks, much in demand during a period of industrial expansion in the area.
Both sites were a major employer of the local community - supported by the canal network linking ironworks & coalfields to the River Severn at the Ironbridge Gorge, (known as the birthplace of the industrial revolution, a UNESCO World Heritage site
just 9miles away.
There will be information on the history of Holy Trinity from its completion in the mid 1800’s. The church itself has seen a number of changes during this time as has the local community over the years & Holy Trinity now almost appears to stand at the edge of the community.
Today you have a great opportunity to take a closer look at the interesting aspects inside & outside of the church building. This church has a connection to Harry Patch, he was married at Holy Trinity & there is a plaque on the wall.
As well as written & photographic evidence, there will be an I-spy worksheet for the young at heart…
