Discover the former private residence of Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst, the founders of the Dartington 'experiment,' and see unique highlights from their personal book collection.

Come along to the Elmhirst Heritage Centre's first free public opening, on Sunday 20 September. Hear about the stories of the people who taught, practised, and lived on the Estate in the 1920s -1960s from our knowledgeable volunteer guides, and experience highlights from the Elmhirsts' art, ceramics, and book collections. The building, which has medieval origins and was substantially modernised in the 1920s, will be open between 11:00 and 16:00.
