Our Heritage and the Environment's Future
Great Saint Mary, St. Marys Passage, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, CB2 3PQ
Visit Great St Mary’s, the University Church, which has been at the centre of Cambridge for over 800 years and played a major role in the beginnings of the University of Cambridge. Hear about its royal connections and the part it played in the English Reformation and the civil wars, and take a look at our first edition King James Bible (published in 1611).
Hear also about our new project which focuses on environmental education, as we seek to encourage care of the environment as we look towards the future. As part of this project we will connect school students with local scientists to discuss their scientific work, and ask how we can make a positive difference to the natural world in a time of climate change.
The talk will be followed by a tour of the church. This does not include climbing the tower, although tickets to climb the tower will be available to purchase on the day.
