The spirited architecture of Pearson Bellamy
Louth Museum, 4 Broadbank, Louth, Lincolnshire, LN11 0EQ
The prolific Louth born architect Pearson Bellamy (1821 - 1901) designed town houses, town halls, chapels, churches, cemeteries, schools, shops and institutes. His elegant brick and tile architecture, his spirited Italianate style, prompted Pevsner to remark upon Bellamy’s delight in building, ‘palazzos in streets decidedly unsun baked.’
At Louth Museum we will host a small display of Bellamy’s distinctive portfolio, much of which we can still observe in the town today. It is easy to detect his distinctive style in Louth’s handsome terraces and singular dwellings, civic and commercial buildings.

There is a chair lift to the exhibition gallery on the first floor, and lift access to the flood display on the mezzanine. If you require assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask one of the team. Due to lack of space in the galleries, large bags and pushchairs are best left at the front desk. We have a parking space for disabled visitors, and other parking areas can be found nearby.
