The presence of significant prehistoric archaeology in the area of Must Farm has been known since 1999. But nobody could have predicted that it would be one of most important discoveries of the 21st century. Dubbed the “Pompeii of the Fens” the Late Bronze Age pile-dwelling settlement at Must Farm, Cambridgeshire, occupies a position of singular importance in British and European archaeology. It is exceptional not only for the quality and breadth of its preservation, but for the way in which it fundamentally reshapes our understanding of Late Bronze Age life.
But isn't this all just a load of old rubbish?...yes but it is very exciting rubbish! Meet our Museum Archaeologist and dive into the ancient middens (rubbish dumps) of Must Farm to discover what they can tell us about how people lived c.3,000 years ago.
